Carpet Cleaning in Trinity, Florida

Our favorite carpet maintenance tips revealed!

Many times we are asked what homeowners can do to help keep their carpets in the best shape possible in between professional cleanings.  We are going to share with you some of our most favorite tips to help you maintain clean carpets in between professional cleanings.

TIP #1:  Use Transition Rugs

Utilize throw rugs when tile and wood flooring transitions into carpeting.  Any loose dirt, debris and soils will collect in the transition rug before hitting the carpeting of our home.  Transition rugs are especially helpful in entryways, high traffic areas and doors used by family pets.

TIP #2:  Re-apply Carpet Protectors On A Regular Basis

Carpeting is a big investment.  Protect your investment by taking precautionary measures like applying carpet protector.  Spills and stains will not be able to settle easily when a barrier is in place.

TIP #3:  Remove Shoes

Most of the dirt that comes in your home enters through the front door on shoes.  Be proactive when it comes to your carpeting.  Insist on people removing shoes at the front door to help minimize soils and debris getting embedded into your carpeting.

TIP #4:  Fall In Love With Your Vacuum!

Does your home get a lot of foot traffic from kids and pets?  If you answered “Yes!”, consider upping your vacuum game.  High foot traffic homes should vacuum their carpets 2-3 times a week.  Your carpeting will see the most damage from sand and small pebbles being ground into carpet fibers.

TIP #5:  Schedule Routine Deep Cleaning Appointments

Depending on the foot traffic in your home, you should have your carpeting professionally cleaned every 6 to 12 months in order to keep your carpeting looking its best and ensure a long lasting life.

Don’t Fall Victim to These Top Carpet Cleaning Mistakes

Our homes are one of our BIGGEST investments and if well maintained, they will last a lifetime and can even create a legacy!  In this month’s blog post, we will explore the top carpet cleaning mistakes and how to avoid them so you get the BEST performance out of your carpeting.

Mistake #1

Over-Shampooing.  This is a common mistake made by Do-It-Yourselfers.  This one mistake can result in shampoo buildup and residue.  This residue can actually attract dirt, making the carpeting look even dirtier.  Solution:  Contact a professional to get the job done.

Mistake #2

Over wetting carpet.  Another common mistake made by Do-It-Yourselfers.  When a carpet is over-wet, several things can happen including creating a breeding ground for mold and mildew and causing the carpet to shrink and lift from the floor.

Mistake #3

Staining.  In some cases stains can be caused by the furniture when it is returned to the carpeting without a protective layer.

Mistake #4

Furniture damage can occur if the furniture is not removed from the room prior to cleaning and if foam blocks or foil backed cardboard squares are not used to protect the furniture during the final drying stage.

The best way to protect your carpet and get the best results is to contact a professional.  Curious about how we can help you have the best looking carpet?  Give us a call and we will give you a FREE quote.  Call us today:  727-364-5158 or learn more on our website: www.CompleteCareSystems.com

What is Carpet Buckle and How Can I Fix It?

CCS 7 15 15 canvaThe following may have happened to you or someone you know!  You anticipate the BIG day!  The day you scheduled to get your carpets cleaned.  You wait in anticipation because you know the end result will be a pristine, fresh smelling, clean floor you can proudly wiggle your toes in!  After the carpet cleaning service leaves, you notice something a little off.  A bump or ripple appears in your carpeting.  After closer inspection, you realize your carpeting is buckling!

HOW and WHY Does this Happen?

When carpeting ages and experiences wear and tear (especially in high traffic areas) the padding under the carpet begins to fall apart and disintegrate.  When the padding begins to fall apart, the carpeting begins to stretch in the area where the padding was present.  Now add cleaning solutions, water and the movement of the carpet cleaning machine to the situation.  The carpet begins to stretch even more.

HOW Do I Fix It?

CCS 8 5 15There are a couple of remedies and precautions you can take to fix or avoid buckling after cleaning.

  • Prevent this from happening by opting for a low-moisture method of cleaning like encapsulation cleaning technology offered by Complete Care Systems.
  • Letting the carpet complete dry will allow for the carpet to shrink.
  • Make sure the carpet is completely dry before you allow anyone to walk on it
  • If the carpet is still showing a buckle or the buckle begins to grow, it may be time to have your carpet stretched and re-installed to compensate for the buckle.

If you have questions about the best cleaning method for your carpeting, give us a call!  We would love to help you make your carpets look amazing and extend their life.  We also offer FREE estimates.  Call us today:  727-364-5158

We Love To Strip and Wax…Floors!

CCS Wednesday 7 27 16 Canva-2Vinyl, VCT and Linoleum floors are very durable flooring options and are a great choice for high traffic areas or spaces that get a lot of wear and tear.  Their ability to be waxed for a high shine finish helps add to the overall design of the space and creates a clean finish.

Over time, traffic wear and tear, soil, debris and wax build up can make floors look aged, dull and dirty.  The best way to conquer the tired appearance of waxed floors is to strip them followed by a fresh coating of wax.

Stripping and waxing flooring should always be done by a reputable professional, equipped with the correct tools, proper training, supplies and knowledge of the flooring to be stripped and waxed.  Not having the proper training and tools will result in a botched finished product which may be costly to fix.

Some of the questions you should or things you should look for when hiring a professional to strip and wax your floors are:

  • How much experience does the company you are hiring have in stripping and waxing floors?
  • Where and how were they trained to strip and wax floors?
  • Do they participate in continuing education where they are learning about the latest products and techniques used?
  • Ask for a list of references of customers
  • Do they practice the technique of sectioning off and working in just one area of the flooring at a time
  • What is the company’s safety protocols or best practices when stripping and waxing?
  • What products will be used to strip and wax the floor.
  • How many coats of wax will be applied?  This is important!  It could be the difference between a beautiful out come and a disaster!  Generally the answer will be 4-6 coats.  However, the more precise answer will depend on the waxing product used and the manufacturers guidelines.  Do your homework.  Based on their answer above, you should be able to easily find out how many coats should be used
  • Ask for advice and best practices regarding wax floor maintenance

Complete Care Systems is expertly trained in stripping and waxing vinyl, VCT and linoleum floors.  We would love to consult with you, answer any questions you may have about your flooring and how to make them the best they can be!  We offer FREE estimates.  Call us today:  727-364-5158

Wonderful WOOL!

Why is wool such a popular carpeting choice?  It is because of the many benefits wool carpeting provides!

Discover the benefits…

WOOL IS AN ALL NATURAL, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY FLOORING OPTION

CCS Wednesday 6 8 16Wool is an all natural option for carpeting and is perfect for those who are interested in surrounding themselves with environmentally friendly materials.

A DURABLE OPTION

Do you have a busy household or are you looking for a carpeting solution that will really last?  Great news!  Wool carpeting can be that option for you!  It holds up well to everyday wear and tear and it even resists dirt!

MOISTURE RESISTANT

Wool has natural wicking properties.  It pulls moisture away from the surface it is placed upon.  Many people will use wool rugs to help protect surfaces like hardwood floors.

If you are going to make the investment and purchase wool carpeting, it is important to understand how to care for it.  There are some things you should be aware of when it comes to wool:

  • Wool is not stain resistant.  Beware of spills like juices, wine, and coffee
  • Chemicals are not wool’s friend!  Keep household cleaners far away
  • Wool can be susceptible to fiber distortion, especially when heat is present

CLEANING WOOL CARPETING:

CCS Wednesday 6 22 16 CanvaWool carpeting should be vacuumed once a week with the vacuum setting set on high so the beater brush isn’t too aggressive on the carpeting.  Wool carpeting should be deep cleaned by a professional at least once a year.  Complete Care Systems is expertly trained in cleaning wool carpeting.  Our low moisture, no heat technology makes it the perfect solution for cleaning wool.  Our process never over-soaks the fibers.  Over soaking the fibers could damage the carpet and leave an odor behind.  Since we do not use a heat system,  our cleaning technology will not promote fiber distortion.

Wool carpeting is an investment.  Take care of it with the right tools and procedures to keep it looking it’s best for years to come.
